The interest in otherness (other spaces, other cultures, other arts) with respect to one's own artistic experience is one of the recurrent elements in the work of Monica Casadei, who loves bringing dance together with different arts and disciplines, in a quest for a joint enrichment and new suggestions.
This was the source of inspiration in 2004 for Fellini's road - Quand le hip-hop rencontre le cirque (2004), where not only circus and dance, but also Fellini's cinematographic imagination meet with the mediation of the memories of Monica Casadei, who described the project stating:
«When Olivier Meyer proposed to me a show where circus and hip-hop dance would meet, I immediately started rethinking of the images from Fellini's movies that have accompanied me since my childhood.
With Fellini's road, I tried to revive Fellini's spirit on stage in my own way. I created a show where poetry winks at sense of humour and dance is energised by Nino Rota's music. Play-actors and jugglers naturally belong to the world of Fellini's imagination, just like, at a closer look, hip-hop dancers: he had always privileged suburbs, streets and social outcasts; therefore, the three dancers, who initially seemed to be the most unrelated to Fellini's language and world, found it logical to dance hip-hop at the sound of Nino Rota's music after having watched Fellini's movies».
