The versatility and curiosity that reside in the works by Monica Casadei have brought her to investigate the reactions of dancers’ bodies also on “unconventional” stages, opening themselves up to the suggestions and influences of the most diverse places.

Teatro Memorial da América Latina (Brazil)
In the gorgeous foyer of the Memorial in São Paulo, Compagnia Artemis Danza has staged "Il girotondo delle muse", a performance of arts and high fashion in cooperation with La Perla and Les Copains. Such performance was intended to represent Italian dance in the national exhibition “Momento Italia Brasile 2011-2012” and in the Extraordinary initiative for institutional, economic and cultural promotion of the Emilia-Romagna Region, falling under the trade Mission to Brazil – Government, Regions and Chambers’ system. The striking choreographies, performed by Artemis Danza dancers with music by Giuseppe Verdi, have been made even more impressive by La Perla creations for S/S 2012 and by the unique stage whose stairs were designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Museu de Arte Contemporanea de Niteroi (Brazil)
On the occasion of the artistic residence in Brazil in 2005, Artemis Danza was invited by the director of Museu de Arte Contemporanea in Niteroi to celebrate the eight anniversary of its establishment. The Company staged the performance “La poetica dell'infinito”, created ad hoc to suit the unique scenario of the museum, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. Here dance has found an intimate correspondence to the formal context and architectonic space, whose lines were inspired by the modulation of spiral dynamics. The plastic and daring curves of the structure have inspired the choreographic interventions in the surrounding space and among the works of art of the museum.

Parish churches on stage
This project started in 2006 in cooperation with the Province of Parma within the dance festival in the parish churches of San Genesio in San Secondo, Sant'Ambrogio in Bazzano and San Bernardo in Fontevivo. It made dance relate to the spiritual places par excellence: churches. Monica Casadei deeply feels the spirituality of such sacred place and interprets its intimacy by summoning her dancers to this “rite”, in order for them to seize the energy deriving from the union of dance and religion, to give it voice and communicate it to the audience. "Dialogues avec l'ange” (a document collected by Gitta Mallasz, Èditions Aubier-1990) are the dialogues between four young Hungarian men and their “Angels” or “Spiritual Leaders” during World War II: they prompt dancers to evoke those “Angels”, to look for spirituality both within and outside ourselves, through the language of dance, which is always a display of our soul and inner being.
