The International Festival Lugo “Danza Corpi Multipli”, under the Artistic Direction of Monica Casadei, was first introduced in 2002 and since then it benefits from a contribution of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities. It takes place at the Teatro Rossini in Lugo di Romagna and at the Teatro Comunale in Russi (Ravenna), under the sign of a collaboration between Associazione Artemis Danza and Fondazione Teatro Rossini and with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region. The main objective of the Festival is to suggest a showcase of major Italian and European experiences and to create a moment for sharing and exchanging, not only among choreographers and contemporary dance companies but also between unusual disciplines, such as street and circus performances. From 2002 to 2005, the initiative has involved some successful companies and emerging national and foreign artists (i.e. French, Swiss, Spanish and South American), mixing several styles and heterogeneous artistic expressions, such as contemporary dance, hip hop, circus, live music, visual arts, etc. In addition to the performances, the Festival also included meetings, trainings and exhibitions, which took place both in traditional and unconventional locations, such as streets, squares and other local venues.
